Revista Euphorion a fost fondată de Uniunea Scriitorilor din România la 1 ianuarie 1990, sub direcţia de onoare a lui Ştefan Aug. Doinaş şi din iniţiativa unui grup de scriitori tineri din Sibiu, alcătuit din: Dumitru Chioaru - primul redactor şef, Vladimir Munteanu, Ştefan M. Găbrian, Iustin Panţa şi Radu Ţurcanu, cărora li s-a alăturat artistul Mircea Stănescu, iar mai târziu scriitorul Ioan Radu Văcărescu şi artistul Marian Florea.
