A rádió története filmbe illő. A kolozsvári magyar vállakozókat tömörítő egyesület egyik összejövetelén felmerült, hogy nagyon hasznos lenne, ha a Kolozsváron és környékén élő magyar embereknek lenne egy saját, 24 órán át sugárzó kereskedelmi rádiója. A jó ötlet sok szervező munkának, közös akaratnak és a közös anyagi áldozatvállalásnak köszönhetően 2006. november 23-án valósult meg: 95.1 FM sávon megszólalt a Paprika Rádió, amely "Fülön csíp".
